Chairs restored… skills built. We revive our schools with our own hands.
We restored 180,000 school chairs with the hands of vocational school students.
The Essence
We learn as we work.
Students are part of the solution.
We use what we have instead of replacing it.
We preserve resources.
180,000
school chairs back in service, thanks to the skills and hands of our teachers and vocational school students.
Maqadna began with a simple idea: how can we restore the damaged chairs in the yards, theatres and halls of public schools?
So, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, we opened the way for vocational school students, provided them with the wood and materials they needed, and under their teachers’ supervision they repaired and restored the damaged school chairs, turning what they learn into real work inside their schools.
We started with 1,000 chairs, and as the pilot succeeded the initiative grew, proving that a practical solution does not always need a big budget: it needs a skill put to use, available resources used well, and a chance that gives students a real role in improving their school.
In Maqadna… we did not just fix chairs; we made students’ skills part of the solution and planted productivity in our students.
